World Literacy Foundation Ambassador Bolu Babalola Named in Forbes 30 Under 30 List for 2021

We are delighted to announce that WLF supporter and Ambassador Bolu Babalola has been recognized by the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for 2021, for her work in Literature and Media.

Bolu Babalola, a British writer and journalist, of Nigerian parentage, whose debut novel Love in Colour, which was published in 2020, was a Sunday Times bestseller and on Waterstones book of the year shortlist.

We are so grateful that Bolu is a fantastic Ambassador for UK Reads and the World Literacy Foundation equipping children in disadvantaged communities with access to urgent literacy support around the world.

With a Law Degree and a Masters from University College London, Bolu Babalola has been announced as one of Forbes List of 30 Under 30 –in the Europe – Media & Marketing category. She knows the importance of literacy and learning for children and has said of her support of The World Literacy Foundation:

“Stories gave me hope and confidence – characters felt like friends. I wish for every child to have the opportunity to find stories they enjoy and learn from, books that feel like support and inspiration for who they can become and what their futures hold. Every child deserves a book of their own.”

Bolu Babalola’s first book sees her reimagine love stories of legend. In Love In Colour,Mythical Tales From Around The World Retold she takes West African folklore, Greek mythology, and South Asian tales in her stride, giving age-old themes deliciously modern twists.
